Description
The Tovertafel (“magic table” in Dutch) is an interactive games system from Tover. It projects light games onto a table, and the games respond to the hands and arms of the players. It turns an ordinary table into a shared activity that people can join at their own level, alone or in a group.
The Tovertafel is used in aged care homes, disability services, day programs, libraries and schools. There are game collections for people living with dementia, adults living with intellectual disability, and children in inclusive education.
What the Tovertafel is designed to do
- Encourage movement, social interaction and moments of fun
- Give care staff an activity they can start in seconds and run with individuals or groups
- Offer games at different levels, so everyone can take part without getting things “wrong”
- Give families something to do together during visits
The games are developed by Tover together with care professionals and players. Tover’s research page summarises the studies behind them.
How it works
- A projector with infrared sensors picks up even small hand movements
- Games are projected onto a table or other flat surface, including wheelchair trays
- A Wi-Fi connection keeps the games up to date
- A quick click-and-ready mounting system lets you move it between rooms
